Becoming a star on You Tube

Esmee
Yes, yes, yes.

You tube can change your life.

Well this is a subject I could talk about for hours, but I’ll be short.
You tube has given a chance to people to get known and succeed in certain area, and really make it big.
But, the thing about it, is that you always have the “you tube” with you, it never leaves.
“You Know Esmee…from Youtube”
However Esmee is the good idea of a YouTube Star.

Ken Lee

There was this woman from the Bulgarian version of Idol – Valentina Hasan, she sang a song by Mariah Carey(originally “Without you”) called “Ken Lee”.
The case was that she didn’t know English, and she was singing what she was actually hearing and it came out ridiculously. She didn’t got into the show, of course, but the video with her casting performance was posted on youtube and she eventually got more than 20,000,000 views and actually became more famous than the winner of the show.
There were all kinds of merchandise with the text “Ken Lee”, remixes of the performance, and she even got a record deal.
So, becoming famous with the fact that you are a bad singer is not that fair, but lets say it’s simply luck.

THE Twitter

Having in mind that companies like Google, Facebook, and even Apple are trying to buy Twitter (a service that does not earn money) really makes me wonder, what makes tens of millions of people use it?

Twitter in 3 lines

The best thing about Twitter is the limitation.  If you have only 140 characters to say something,  you basically cut off all the unnecessary stuff.
As Flickr is a universal platform for importing and exporting photos,  Twitter is the same, but for thoughts.

At First

When you join Twitter you might see a lot of nonsense and personal things, which at first could be quite repulsing.

But, as correctly noted by Jason Cats in upholding essay about Twitter – “You hear such things in the streets around town, so you shouldn’t be surprised at all”

Interface

The good news is that Twitter is an open platform (you can transfer the API) And does not limit you to the official login and interface page.

For a long time I wondered why their website is so simple, but on the other hand – slow. Then I installed TweetDeck (requires Adobe Air – the new Flash), TwitterFon and TwitterBar and since then I have not seen what twitter.com looks like.

The Communication

In the beginning its a little bit like having a Skype with no people inside.  But as you add more people, it becomes interesting.

King Facebook

We all know that facebook has been such a sensation in the past couple of years, I never thought that social network could ever beat “the” Myspace but it did, facebook has been the most successful social network.
But it makes me think, where’s the trick? Of course we are all hooked up on it, it’s easy, quick & fun, why not be hooked up?

And here comes the catch…

I read a story by By Daniel Abrahamson

“A computer database which cataloged your entire social network: the email, home address, and sensitive details of all your friends, and consequently, all of their friends in a massive interlinked web. What if this service also archived all of your personal preferences on everything from books to movies to music? And if it also categorized your political views, club associations, previous jobs, educational background, and who you are dating?

Here’s the place to ask “Well, why not?”.
Facebook - your whole live in a database
Well, because it is well known that that the security level for this program is quite poor, and pretty much everyone, even the government could easily tap into peoples accounts and take their information on themselves, and on all of their friends.

The other bad thing about it, or even the worse thing is that people are loosing the real-life communication. The thing that no social network could provide is a feeling. No pictures or written words can make you feel the real person.
Facebook addiciton
Social networks are killing the excitement of the communication, and we shouldn’t forget what real life really is.
